CAIRO – 27 December 2017: Top officials of the two main Palestinian political factions, Fatah and Hamas, are scheduled to meet with Egyptian intelligence officials Wednesday to follow up on the progress of the Palestinian reconciliation that took effect last October.

High-profile delegations from Fatah and Hamas headed by both Ahmed al-Azzam and Ismael Hanieyya arrived in Cairo on Tuesday.

The meeting is also slated to tackle the current situation in Jerusalem, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent move to transfer the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and thereby declare it as the capital of Israel.

It is noteworthy that the Palestinian National Authority and factions also met in Cairo on November 21 and 22 after an Egyptian invitation to resume reconciliation talks between Fatah and Hamas.
