Palestinians condemn Coptic church bombings in Egypt

CAIRO – 9 April 2017: Palestinians marched through Jerusalem's streets to protest the two bombings that targeted churches in Egyptian governorates of Tanta and Alexandria during Palm Sunday services.

Both Muslims and Christians of the city chanted anti-terrorism slogans and held placards that read, “Sons of Resurrection scream for justice and demand the International community to respond for the killing of innocents” and “With the strength of our belief, we break terrorism”.

The Palestinian Sunni-Islamic fundamentalist organization, Hamas, also condemned the attacks and deemed them a crime that targeted a house of worship.

Moreover, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine denounced the bombings and demanded unity and solidarity to stand in the face of terrorism.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas also condemned the bombings of the Egyptian churches.

Abbas described the bombings as an act of terror and said he and the Palestinian people stand with the people and leadership of Egypt in their fight against terrorism.
