GIZA - 27 December 2017: Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Takehiro Kagawa inspected on Tuesday the work progress in the Khufu Second Boat Project.

The project reflects a true partnership between the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and the Japanese Higashi Nippon International University, Kagawa said.

This mega project is meant to restore the boat's timbers and re-display them at the Grand Egyptian Museum, he noted.

So far, 860 timbers have been restored while 606 others have been moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum, Eissa Zeidan, the director of the project's restoration department, said.
