CAIRO - 3 April 2017: Egypt denounced in the strongest terms Monday’s explosions in St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The blast occurred in St. Petersburg’s underground system and claimed the lives of 10 people and injured 50 others.

The statement stressed Egypt’s solidarity with the Russian government and people, pointing to Egypt’s constant warning against the spread of terrorism and the dangers of this phenomenon if no proper action is taken to fight it.

The statement added that the recurrence of terrorist attacks in the recent period confirms that no country is immune to such attacks, highlighting the need for collaborative action to face this unprecedented wave of terror that threatens international safety and security.
