CAIRO – 17 November 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi bestowed the Order of the Republic of the First Class on former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel General Mahmoud Hegazy in an official ceremony held by the armed forces on Saturday.

Minister of Defense Sedki Sobhy inaugurated the ceremony by praising Hegazy, thanking his liberality during his service, saying that the former chief of staff served the nation in the most difficult period of history.

President Sisi took part in the ceremony by bestowing Hegazy one of the highest orders of honor for what he presented to the country.

Hegazy served as chief of staff since 2014, before Sisi appointed him as presidential advisor for strategic planning and crisis management in October 2017.

The ceremony was attended by a number of state officials, including Parliament Speaker Ali Abdul Aal.
