CAIRO – 15 December 2017: Kuwaiti authorities have renewed the jailing of the Kuwaiti citizen Khaled Rizk, who assaulted an Egyptian expat in his workplace following a dispute over repairing the motorcycle belonging to the Kuwaiti.

Kuwaiti outlets have assured that the defendant is charged with beating, insulting and causing severe bodily harm to an Egyptian citizen.

The Egyptian consulate in Kuwait is eagerly following up on the investigations launched regarding the matter, praising the efforts of the Kuwaiti authorities in speeding up the process to deal with the incident and arrest the perpetrator.

Earlier on Thursday, Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, Nabila Makram, traveled to Kuwait to check on the Egyptian expat’s health conditions.

A viral video showed the Egyptian citizen being beaten by a Kuwaiti national in Kuwait City on Tuesday, arousing public anger in Egypt.

The expat in question, Waheed Mahmoud Rifai, is a shop attendant in Kuwait, who was brutally beaten by a Kuwaiti citizen until he fainted. Rifai was then taken to Al-Sabah hospital.
