MOSCOW - 12 December 2017: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Tuesday that Moscow is ready to support agreements aimed at resolving the Libya issue.

During his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya in the Government of National Accord Mohamed Taher Siala, Lavrov noted that Russia is ready to facilitate the implementation of agreements in every possible way, Russia's Tass news agency reported.

"From the very beginning of the Libyan crisis, we have been maintaining contacts with all the political sides," Lavrov added.

"We expect that as the situation stabilizes and threats to the Libyan statehood and the security of the Libyan citizens are eliminated, we will be able to boost bilateral cooperation with a united, independent and free Libya," the Russian top diplomat pointed out.

"We would be very much interested to hear your assessments of the situation concerning the Libya issue, particularly in light of the upcoming meeting between representatives of the Tripoli government and the Tobruk parliament, brokered by the United Nations and expected to take place next week," Lavrov further said.
