CAIRO – 10 December 2017: Egyptian Interior Ministry foiled an attempt by foreign smugglers to smuggle 200 kilo heroin into the country via Safaga port at the Red Sea on Sunday.

The General Directorate for Drug Control, in coordination with the international control bodies, monitored the activity of one of the most dangerous gangs, which includes elements of different foreign nationalities.

The international gang planned to bring a large consignment of narcotics "200 kg of heroin drug and 10 kg of ice dope" from Asian country on a commercial boat flies the flag of an African country.



Border guards in successful coordination with naval forces managed to arrest the ten-element gang seizing 10 kg of ice dope and 200 kilos of heroin in a secret warehouse in engine room.

After arresting, they confessed seizing narcotic substances for the purpose of trading inside the country, then the necessary legal action was taken against the accused, and the Egyptian prosecution to conduct investigations soon.
