GAZA CITY - 9 December 2017: A Palestinian woman was shot and injured on Saturday by Israeli occupation forces in eastern Gaza Strip, according to Health Ministry's spokesperson in Gaza trip, Ashraf al Qudra.

Al Qudra added that the woman was shot in her shoulder, pointing out that she is suffering from medium injuries.

Palestinian Minister of Health Jawad Awad said that governmental hospitals and medical centers are currently working at a state of emergency due to the number of casualties resulting from the demonstrations held against US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital.

In a statement, Awad noted that emergency departments and blood banks in hospitals are placed on high alert to receive injuries and provide needed medications.

Meanwhile, the level of readiness of all medical staff has been raised to be available at any time due to the critical conditions taking place in the Palestinian cities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Awad added.

He pointed out that the Palestinian leadership represented by President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah are updated with the latest developments and injuries.

Clashes that took place between Palestinian citizens and Israeli occupation forces since Thursday on the back of Trump's Jerusalem decision have left four Palestinians dead and more than 1,100 wounded, Awad stated.

Clashes between the Palestinians and Israeli forces continued along the border in eastern Gaza Strip.

Clashes in eastern Khan Younis district left a Palestinian school student wounded.
