CAIRO - 9 March 2017: The family of former President Hosni Mubark are said to be readying his residence near Ithadeya Palace in Heliopolis in preparation for his release from Maadi Military Hospital following his final acquittal on murder charges and his subsequent release from house arrest,

Youm7 reported

Thursday.

Sources close to the former presidential family told Youm7 that the ground floor of the villa owned by his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, is being prepared for Mubarak's accommodation amid tight security measures. A long list of Egyptian and Arab public figures and senior Egyptian officials are expected to visit him at home, as many were not able to visit him at the hospital.

The report added that Mubarak is expected to pay his first visit post-release to the grave of his grandson, who passed away in 2009 and to whom he was commonly known to be very attached.

Mubarak has been in the Maadi Military Hospital since his indictment in 2011 due to his health.

On March 2, Egypt’s top appeals court issued a final verdict acquitting Mubarak of charges of collusion to kill protesters during the 2011 January 25 Revolution that ultimately toppled him from power after three decades.
