Saleh's son held captive by Houthis after his father's murder near Sanaa

CAIRO – 4 December 2017: Prominent leader of the General People’s Congress party confirm the murder of Yemeni former President Ali Abdallah Saleh by the Houthi militias in Sanaa, Turkish Anadolu news agency reported Monday.

Sources revealed to Sky News Arabia channel that Saleh’s son, Khaled, was injured and taken captive by the Houthis.

“Saleh was killed by the Houthis while he was at the district of Senhan Arabs near Sanaa,” the sources added to Sky News.

Fighters from Iran-backed militias led by the Houthis blew up the house of ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the centre of the capital Sanaa on Monday, Reuters quoted resident.

Late Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced on Sunday the dissolution of his partnership with the Houthi rebels amid heavy military clashes between his supporters and Iran-aligned Houthis in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa.

Salah’s loyalists have lost ground on the sixth day of heavy urban combat with the Houthis militias, his former allies in nearly three years of war with a Saudi-led coalition.

The death toll from clashes erupted in Yemen between Houthi militias and the General People's Congress (GPC) forces, loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, rose to 200 on Sunday.
