CAIRO - 29 November 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head to the Italian capital Rome on Thursday to participate in Rome MED-Mediterranean Dialogues held on Nov 30-Dec 2.

The Rome MED-Mediterranean Dialogues was established in 2015 upon a joint initiative between the Italian Foreign Ministry and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Wednesday.

The event aims at launching high-level dialogue among the northern and southern countries overlooking the Mediterranean Sea on the current challenges amid the several crises that threaten the security and stability of the region.

The event will tackle also cooperation and development opportunities between both sides.

It is scheduled that Italian President Sergio Mattarella inaugurates the forum where about fifty countries will take part.

The event will witness the participation of a large number of foreign ministers, representatives of international organizations and prominent figures in the political field.

The forum's agenda for this year will include important matters topped by means of achieving a regional balance amid the current challenges, Abu Zeid reiterated
