CAIRO – 26 November 2017: Egyptian former member of the National Council for Counterterrorism, Fouad Allam, said during a TV interview with Al-Sharq satellite channel that the Qatari crisis became more complicated because of the U.S.’ and France’s stance.

“If these two countries cleared their stance toward Qatar, the crisis would be over in 24 hours,” Allam added.

He added that Qatar is funding all terrorist groups around the world and that the Qatari national security and regime are mainly affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Allam stressed that Iran and Turkey are seeking to involve the region into a war; however, Iran is fighting Saudi Arabia indirectly. “Egypt is keen on avoiding the region a war,” he remarked.

On June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Libya and Yemen decided to cut all diplomatic ties with Qatar, hurling allegations that the state supports terrorism. Ports and airspace were cut off to Qatari vessels.

Subsequently, in June, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Al-Sabah started a tour, which included Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, in an attempt to mediate between the three countries.
