CAIRO –16 November 2017: Egyptian-led moves to contain and end conflicts in the region are welcome and deserve support, Iraqi Ambassador Habib al-Sadr exclusively told Egypt Today on Thursday.

"We are standing firmly with Egypt in its attempts to stop the escalation coming from the parties responsible for the tension in the region and bring them all back to the negotiations table,” the ambassador stated.

On the sidelines of the 10th Kuwaiti Week in Cairo, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Tuesday, the Iraqi Ambassador, being one of the festival’s guests, hailed Egypt’s long-standing efforts to address the regional issues, disallowing the interference of foreign mediators.

Commenting on the developments in Lebanon following the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Sadr said no one can say that Hariri would likely have met the same fate as that of his father; extending his hopes that the crisis can peacefully end.

Concluding on Thursday, the 10th Kuwaiti week is aimed at enhancing the already-bolstered mutual relations, bringing together several Kuwaiti and Egyptian companies to display assortments of diverse products.
