Trump arrives in Philippines for Asian leaders' summit

U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in the Philippine capital Manila on Sunday to attend an annual gathering of leaders from East and Southeast Asian countries.

The Philippines will be the last leg of a tour that has also taken Trump to Japan, China, and South Korea. Just hours before Trump's arrival, Philippine’s riot police used water cannons to prevent hundreds of anti-American protesters from reaching the U.S. embassy in Manila.

Iran rejects Macron call for talks on Iranian missiles

Iran rejected a call by French President Emmanuel Macaron for talks on Iran's ballistic missile program, on Sunday, saying its missiles were defensive and unrelated to the nuclear deal with world powers.

"We have repeatedly told French officials that the nuclear agreement is not negotiable and will not allow further issues to be added to it," the Iranian foreign minister said in a statement.

Hundreds of bodies in mass graves in Iraq

Several mass graves containing at least 400 bodies were found near the Iraqi Hawijah, which was recovered from the Islamic State’s terrorist group in early October, Kirkuk governor, Rakan said.

"Not less than 400 people were executed," he said; adding that some were clad in the uniform of prisoners condemned to death while others wore civilian clothing.

Iraqi army helicopter crash kills seven: Iraqi military

An Iraqi army helicopter crashed during a routine flight on Sunday, killing seven people on board, a military statement and Iraqi air force officers said on Sunday.

The Russian made Mi-17 helicopter went down near the southern province of Kut, the statement added. Two pilots and five army officers were killed, Iraqi air force officers told Reuters.

Polls open in Slovenian presidential election runoff

Slovenia is holding a second round of presidential elections with 1.7 million voters. Voters will choose between incumbent President Borouet Pahor and former filmmaker Marianne Charitz.

The first round took place on October 22, with none of the candidates able to cross the 50 percent barrier.
