Macron receives Sisi at Elysee Palace

French President Emmanuel Macron received President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Tuesday at the Elysee Palace ahead of a bilateral meeting between both leaders.

An official reception ceremony was held Tuesday for Sisi who is visiting Paris for three days, where he is scheduled to discuss different levels of bilateral relations with his French counterpart.

Both Sisi and Macron are set to witness the signing of 17 cooperation agreements between both countries.

Sisi met with CEOs of two French companies; Naval Group and France’s national state-owned railway company. He praised mutual cooperation between Egypt and the Naval Group; saying that Egypt is considered the second largest user of the French company’s military products.

Saudis set $500 billion plan to develop border region with Jordan, Egypt

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced on Tuesday that a half trillion dollar investment city will run across Saudi Arabia’s, Egypt’s and Jordan’s borders, the state news agency SPA reported.

The project, called Neom, will be built on 26,500 square kilometers (10,230 square miles), SPA reported; adding that the first phase would be ready in 2025.

U.S. considers sanctions over Myanmar's treatment of Rohingya

Iraqi Kurdistan parliament delays presidential elections 8 months

Elections for the presidency and parliament of Iraq's Kurdistan region set for November 1 have been delayed eight months, the regional parliament announced on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

The decision came after the electoral commission said on Monday that political parties had failed to present candidates for both elections amid turmoil in the region following the independence referendum it held on September 25.

Six crew from German ship kidnapped in Nigerian waters

Six crew members from a German container vessel have been kidnapped in Nigerian waters, the shipping company said on Tuesday.

Four of those taken are Filipino, and one is Ukrainian, according to the Philippines’ Department of Labour and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

"The vessel was attacked by pirates on early Saturday morning when it was approaching one of the ports of Nigeria," said a spokesman for Peter Doehle Schiffahrts, KG.
