CAIRO – 21 October 2017: Arab Twitter users were keen to express their solidarity and support for the families and relatives of those killed and wounded in the terror attack took place in the Western Egyptian Desert (Wahat) on Friday.

The hashtag #Wahat circulated Twitter on Saturday by Arab users who expressed their deepest condolences for the families of the victims who were ambushed by terrorist elements, the fire exchange killed 17 officers and conscripts, and injured 15.

The Interior Ministry released a statement in which it announced that 17 security officers were killed during clashes with militants in Wahat in the Western Desert in the early hours of Saturday, which led to the killing of 15 militants.

The statement added that the Interior Ministry’s National Security Service received information about the location of dangerous militants taking shelter in the Western Desert’s kilo 135, and then a raid was ordered to be launched.
