CAIRO – 19 October 2017: The Egyptian and Portuguese Foreign Ministers Sameh Shoukry and Augusto Santos Silva held a joint press conference on Thursday in Cairo. Shoukry said that Egyptian authorities are happy with Portuguese interest in Egypt as a cultural and entertaining destination.

Silva said Portugal signed a tourism agreement with Egypt as it is has proven to be an attractive destination for Portuguese tourists. Silva also praised Shoukry and their meeting.

Shoukry mentioned that the quartet is coordinating on possible measures against Qatar, which has refused to respond to the six principles concerning the national security of the four boycotting countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, and Bahrain).

The measures already taken against the princedom played a role in facilitating the Palestinian reconciliation and “the improvement of the Libyan situation,” Shoukry stated.
