Joint meeting between minster of higher education and French ambassador to Egypt

CAIRO – 5 October 2017: France will increase the number of scholarships for Egyptian students and researchers and training programs in different fields, Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said during a meeting with French Ambassador to Egypt Stefan Roumtier on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters.

Abdel Ghaffar requested that the French side offer training programs for researchers to implement their researches as well as using laboratories and equipments in French research centers, which give the researchers new scientific experiences.

The Egyptian Minister looked for the way French experts benefit from water resources management, energy and engineering.

Stefan Roumtier said that the French embassy is considering 300 research proposals of Egyptian students and researchers in order to select 40 who would continue their studies in France, and promised to increase number of Egyptian students by preparing jointly-financed study programs in the English language.

Abdel Ghaffar and Roumtier discussed the establishment a French technology academy for contributing in technology education in Egypt, which the labor market needs.

Roumtier expressed his country’s desire to set a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries in the technology and science fields. Roumtier invited Abdel Ghaffar to participate in activities of the ministers of education and technology conference in May 2018 in Paris.

On the other hand, Abdel Ghaffar invited Roumtier to participate in 70th anniversary of establishing UNESCO headquarters in Egypt and participating in the festivities of Helwan University coming up in Aswan next December.
