CAIRO - 1 October 2017: French Ambassador to Egypt Stéphane Romatet announced Sunday that his country is preparing for the anticipated visit of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, which is scheduled to take place in the few upcoming weeks.

The visit is set to discuss several issues between President Sisi and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, at Élysée Palace, such as counter terrorism, besides other regional issues like Libya, Syria and Iraq, according to Romatet’s statements following his tour in Alexandria city.

Romatet praised the international visit of Sisi, saying that it enhanced Egypt’s role in the world, after its administration focused on the internal affairs since 2011.

Romatet’s comments addressed the situation in Iraq, revealing that his country stands by Kurds, and sees that the solution lies in acknowledging the rights of Kurds, and including them in the state’s institutions.

He also tackled boycotting Qatar, saying that “Everyone should stand together to drain the sources of terrorism, whether in Qatar or anywhere else.”

“I direct businessmen in my country to invest in Egypt, considering the economic chances it offer,” Romatet said Sunday.

Last visit of President Sisi to Paris was in 2014, when President François Hollande was in the Élysée.
