CAIRO – 26 September 2017: There are new security restrictions imposed on Egyptians aged 18-40 travelling to Turkey and those aged 18-45 going to Sudan, according to the Assistant Minister of Interior for Passports, Immigration and Nationality, Gen. Ahmed Anwar.

He announced that Egyptian passport holders require state security permit to travel to Turkey and Sudan.

Anwar stressed that Egyptians willing to visit Qatar will not need security authorization, while Qataris’ visa-free entry to Egypt has been halted – a measure taken against Doha only in the Gulf area.

Qatari nationals will now have to apply for a visa to enter Egypt, the assistant minister added.

The development comes more than three months after Egypt, along with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, cut diplomatic ties with Qatar and imposed an air, sea and land blockade on the country. The quartet accused Doha of supporting and hosting extremists and fugitives on its territories.
