CAIRO – 21 September 2017: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed his deep concern to his Ethiopian counterpart Workneh Gebeyehu, Thursday about what he described as ‘rigid state’ of the Renaissance Dam tripartite technical committee.

During their meeting on the sideline of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Shoukry affirmed that the [rigid state] of the committee’s work is seriously affecting the completion of some studies on the effects of the dam.

From his part, Gebeyehu said that his government is completely committed to the dam agreement with Sudan and Egypt.

Both leaders have also discussed the countries’ bilateral relations according to statement issued by the FM’s spokeperson Ahmed Abu Zaid, as they praised the importance of their periodic meetings every couple monthes.

Shoukry, also met with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ghandour in another separate meeting, Thursday on the sideline of UNGA, as they discussed the ‘historical relations between their countries.’
