CAIRO – 16 September 2017: Egypt will organize an international festival to mark the 75th anniversary of the Second Battle of El Alamein, under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, in late October, Al-Akhbar reported.

The Second Battle of El Alamein (October 23 - November 11, 1942) had occurred 90 kilometers west of Alexandria, which witnessed a victory for the allied powers (France, United Kingdom, Greek, Poland) against the Axis powers (Germany, Japan, Italy) during World War II.

Coincidently, the government will announce a set of new projects in New Alamein City on a piece of land with 50,000 feddans (one feddan equals about 1.038 acres).

A total of 1,920 housing units have been built in the city, while 15 other residential towers will be established, said Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouly on Saturday during a tour in the city.
