CAIRO – 9 Sep 2017: Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan held talks with director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Cairo Office Peter Van Rooij on several files as well as the ongoing projects implemented by the ministry and the ILO.

Saafan asserted during the meeting that Egypt is keen to ensure that the employment climate meets the highest relevant international standards, the Ministry of Manpower said in a Saturday statement.

The government will not accept any obstacles hindering the application of the ILO Better Work program, the minister said.

Saafan further noted that he directed the manpower directorates in governorates to compile periodic reports on the companies and factories that are ready to join the Better Work program.

Saafan also welcomed the visit to be made by an ILO delegation, due to start later in the day in order to inspect Egypt’s companies and factories that joined the Better Work program.

Meanwhile, the ILO Cairo Office director said the Better Work program is a system that has to be applied in companies and factories as per a set timeline in order to improve work and workers conditions.
