US Congress still undecided about aid to Egypt in 2018: FM

CAIRO - 7 September 2017: Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abu Zeid told MENA on Thursday that the US Congress was still reviewing the external appropriations for the 2018 budget, adding that no decisions have been reached so far on the matter.

The US congress is still undecided about the volume of aid to Egypt in 2018, Abu Zeid explained, noting that the committee tasked with reviewing the external appropriations within the house of representatives had earlier approved the allocations concerning the military and financial aid to Egypt in the 2018 budget without any reductions.

However, the senate committee asked to include some reductions to the aid allocated to Egypt, so the matter was not yet determined, he added.
