CAIRO – 3 September 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi left Cairo Sunday heading to Chinese port city Xiamen to participate in the ninth annual BRICS summit.

Sisi is among the guests of honor representing five countries; Egypt, Guinea, Mexico, Tajikistan and Thailand.

The summit kicked off Sunday and is scheduled to last until Tuesday.

Observers have hailed Egypt’s participation in the economic summit as an indication that the world economy trusts the Egyptian economic reform program and is giving the country a chance to promote its investment opportunities.

Trade volume between Egypt and BRICS countries (Brazil- Russia- India- China- South Africa) during 2016 reached $20 billion, Minister of Trade Tarek Kabil said Friday.

China topped the countries' association with a volume of $10.99 billion. Exports to China included leather, carpets and oranges, while imports included equipment and crystal apparatus, mobile phones, fabrics, cars, and steel and iron.
