CAIRO – 28 August 2017: A prosecution team went to Tora prisons to listen to the accused who witnessed the escape of the prisoners while returning from a court on the well known case, ‘Helwan Brigades’ on Sunday. It will also listen to the injured policeman and the police secretary.

The prisoners caused chaos on the Autostrad road in Saqr Quraish, on the suburbs of Cairo, while returning from a court. One of prisoners stole a policeman’s revolver after the policeman was shot in his arm while trying to control the chaos.

Seven prisoners fled, but the security forces arrested five prisoners only, of which one of them was injured as the police were chasing them, according to the investigations led by the counselor Ahmed Magdy Abdelghani.

The investigations confirmed that the prisoners could escape without the help of any external elements.

Cairo police launched a manhunt and established security checkpoints in Maadi and Autostrad road to arrest the other two fugitives.

Some members belonging to a self-named group called the Helwan Brigades, were arrested after releasing a video on social media networks on August 14, 2014 in which 12 masked men were holding rifles and making a four-fingered gesture known as the Raba’a sign. They were taped saying they were fed up with the Muslim Brotherhood’s “peacefulness” and vowed to attack all police facilities in Cairo after the dispersal of the Raba’a sit in on August 14, 2013 of the ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
