CAIRO – 18 August 2017: In what it seems as coordinated attacks on Catalonia, Spanish police shot dead four alleged terror perpetrators and injured one more during a counter-terror raid in Cambrils early Friday following an earlier car attack in Barcelona, according to a spokesperson for the Catalan police.

Several people are reported to have been injured on the seafront Paseo Maritimo in the Cambrils attack, allegedly by the suspected terrorists who were then shot by police.
Police warned people that the situation in Cambrils is “exceptional” and asked the town’s residents to be patient and remain indoors.

Thirteen people died and dozens were injured when a van ploughed into crowds in Barcelona's Las Ramblas area on Thursday afternoon.

Moreover, the police confirmed that the explosion that destroyed a house in Alcanar Platja on Thursday morning, killing one person and injuring several more, is also linked to the attack.

The Syrian-based terrorist group Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the Barcelona attack in which a van ploughed into crowds on Thursday.
