CAIRO – 12 August 2017: Muslim Brotherhood preacher Essam Telima, the former director of Yusuf al-Qaradawi's office, admitted the catastrophic mistakes that the Muslim Brotherhood caused from atop Rabaa al-Adawiya’s platform.

In an article that was published on one of the Muslim Brotherhood websites, on the anniversary of the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in, Telima compared Rabaa al-Adawiya’s platform to a “weeping woman in a funeral.”

The preacher stressed that the speech given from the Rabaa platform caused implications for the group, revealing that there were individuals loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood who were “committing defamation and relied on fabrication, misrepresentation, insults and abuse of people,” even on widespread videos and posts Facebook.

Telima pointed out that the Rabaa platform and media platforms belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood “exceeded the limits of the law of God.”

Four years have passed since the dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in, which has left losses estimated in the millions of Egyptian pounds inflicted on state institutions.

On August 14, 2013, security forces set out in dispersing the Muslim Brotherhood-dominated sit-in in Nasr City’s Rabaa al-Adawiya Square, along with another sit-in that was located in Nahda Square in Giza.

The Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in, which was proven to have been armed to the teeth, was primarily forged by former Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated President Mohamed Morsi supporters and sympathizers in support of his “alleged” legitimacy.
