CAIRO – 2 August 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry flew on Wednesday to the Sudanese capital Khartoum to head the Egyptian delegation in the Political Consultation Committee to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
"On the way to Khartoum to hold a round of periodic political consultations between the foreign ministers of the two countries," Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid, wrote on his official Facebook page.
Abu Zeid stressed in a press statement that the meeting is the third of the committee, preceded by the committee’s meeting in Khartoum on April 20, 2017 and in Cairo on June 3, 2017.
He added that both sides are keen on transparently and frankly discussing all aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, as well as working to address all concerns and obstacles related to the development of bilateral relations.
Abu Zeid pointed out that the committee is expected to discuss all aspects of bilateral cooperation, whether in the political, economic or commercial fields, and to follow up on the activation of a number of major economic integration projects agreed upon in the framework of the Joint Higher Committee, such as the development of the Egyptian industrial zone in Khartoum.
The two foreign ministers will activate the joint strategic project for meat production, as well as follow up on the joint agricultural integration project in the Blue Nile state. The committee will also tackle the performance of the media in the two countries, within the framework of mutual concern to maintain fraternal relations and refrain from anything that could disturb these relations.
