CAIRO – 31 July 2017: Iraqi embassy staff in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, was evacuated to Egyptian embassy following an explosion occurred outside the Iraqi embassy, said the Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Monday.

Attempts to evacuate embassy are being made, particularly after two Afghani guards during attempts of storming the embassy of Iraq, Iraqi Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Gamal said in the statement.

Armed clashes were broken out near Iraqi embassy in Kabul between diplomacy staff of the embassy and terrorists after a suicidal explosion undertaken by Islamic State (IS) terrorist group near the embassy, according to Afghani agency Khama Bears.

The Afghan Interior Ministry declared that the Iraqi embassy staff has been transferred to a more secure place after the suicidal attack.

A suicide bomber has blown himself up at the main gate of Iraqi embassy allowing gunmen to enter the building and battle security forces on Monday.

IS has declared its responsibility for the suicidal attack as its Amaq agency confirmed that two attackers had blown up the gate, killing seven guards, and two fighters had broken into the compound.
