Health delegation travels to KSA ahead of Hajj season

CAIRO – 28 July 2017: A health delegation from the Ministry of Health and Population travelled, on Friday, to Saudi Arabia to survey preparation measures for the coming Hajj (Pilgrimage) season.

The technical mission will inspect the appropriateness of public health preparedness including epidemiological inspection at hotels and residential places where the pilgrims will stay, according to the chief of Preventative and Endemic Diseases Sector at the Ministry of Health and Population, Amr Mohamed Kandeel.

Kandeel told Egypt Today that the technical delegation plays a vital role to ensure the safety of pilgrims from epidemics. He added, the delegation will accompany the Egyptian official Hajj mission during the Hajj season and until all pilgrims return home.

Earlier on Wednesday, a delegation from the Ministry of Tourism travelled to Saudi Arabia to inspect the pilgrims' accommodations in Saudi Arabia, ensure proper documentation of rental contracts and follow up on arrangements and preparations by tourist companies for the Hajj (Pilgrimage) season this year.

In 2016, Saudi Arabia received more than 1.8 million pilgrims of which 52,877 were Egyptian pilgrims.

According to Al Arabiya news outlet, the Saudi Arabian “Council of Economic Affairs and Development,” chaired by Deputy Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, have paid great attention to pilgrims by providing all the necessary facilities and best services to perform the rituals of Hajj and with ease and facility.
