PYONGYANG- 25 July 2017: The North Korean Central News Agency cited a foreign ministry spokesman Tuesday as saying that Pyongyang will carry out a nuclear strike to “the heart of the US” in response to CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s comments on regime change in Pyongyang.

“Should the US dare to show even the slightest sign of attempt to remove our supreme leadership, we will strike a merciless blow at the heart of the US with our powerful nuclear hammer, honed and hardened over time," the spokesman said.

"It has now become clear that the ultimate aim of the Trump administration's hostile policy towards the DPRK is the 'regime change' in DPRK," the spokesman added.

"Those comments show Pompeo's illiteracy about the DPRK [the Democratic People's Republic of Korea] and an explicit illustration of incompetence of the US intelligence community," the news agency reported.

"The likes of Pompeo will bitterly experience the catastrophic and miserable consequences caused by having dared to shake their little fists at the supreme leadership," it said, referring to the country's leader Kim Jong-un
