CAIRO - 29 April 2024: Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry participated Monday in a ministerial meeting of several Arab and European countries and the Arab League to discuss efforts towards a Palestinian state.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

The international community must take serious steps to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, Shoukry said, and to support the Palestinian people in obtaining their legitimate, inalienable rights.

He added that the status quo in the occupied Palestinian territories would only result in increasing vicious circles of violence.

The crisis in both Gaza and the West Bank  makes it imperative for international parties to shoulder their legal and humanitarian responsibilities in the direction of a two-state solution and peace in the region by recognizing the Palestinian state, Shoukry concluded.
