CAIRO – 5 April 2024: It has been reported that CIA director Bill Burns may pay a visit to Egypt this weekend for talks on achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and reaching an agreement on a prisoner swap between the Palestinians and Israelis.

“NEW: CIA director Bill Burns is expected to travel to Cairo this weekend for talks with Mossad's chief & top Qatari &  Egyptian officials in an effort to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, two sources familiar told me,” said Political reporter for Axios, Barak Ravid on his X platform on Friday.

Cairo has hosted several rounds of negotiations between the concerned parties, with the aim to reach a humanitarian truce between the Palestinian Hamas movement and Israel in Gaza.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip stated that the Israeli occupation committed 5 massacres against families in the Strip, including 54 martyrs and 82 injuries who were admitted to hospitals during the past 24 hours. So, the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip -since October 7 of last year - has killed 33,091 documented Palestinian people, mostly children and women. Meanwhile, the number of injuries has reached 75,750 others.
