CAIRO - 14 February 2024: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was received with an official ceremony upon his arrival at Al-Ittihadiya Palace on Wednesday. The Egyptian guest of honor reviewed the guard of honor, and the military band played the national anthems of both countries.
President Erdoğan arrived at Cairo International Airport earlier today on an official visit to Egypt, his first in over 11 years, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as part of the ongoing rapprochement between the two countries.
The two presidents are scheduled to hold a joint press conference after their talks today at Al-Ittihadiya Palace.
The visit comes after years of high-level diplomatic and political efforts between the two countries, culminating in the normalization of relations today. There is a growing convergence between Presidents el-Sisi and Erdoğan to address common challenges.
