CAIRO – 21 July 2017: Ministry of Interior allows “exceptional prison visits” for the families of prisoners in commemoration of the anniversary of Egyptians’ revolution of 1952, which falls every year on July 23.

The projected time for the family exception visits begin on Sunday until Thursday, according to the Ministry of Interior.

On July 23, 1952, group of army officers led by Muhammad Naguib and Gamal Abdel Nasser seized power and announced victory over King Farouk’s regime, which was blamed for the country’s massive corruption and government’s poor performance.

This move came within the Interior ministry’s keenness to uphold the internationally-recognized values of human rights by enabling inmates to celebrate this exceptional occasion with their families.
