President Sisi holds meeting with defense minister

CAIRO – 24 December 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting on Sunday with General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production.

Details about the meeting have not yet been revealed.

President Sisi is currently serving his third presidential term, which extends until 2030, after winning re-election last week with more than 89 percent of votes.

Sisi is serving his third term amid growing regional challenges, including the ongoing conflict in Sudan, the war in Gaza that is taking place near the Egyptian border and is triggering regional tensions, and the longstanding dispute of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
