CAIRO – 17 December 2023: Ambassador Ragui al-Etrebi, assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for international and regional economic affairs, stated Sunday that Egypt had been invited to attend the G20 meetings for one year.

The invitation was made by Brazil whose presidency of the entity began on December 1 and adopted as theme "Building a Just World and A Sustainable Planet."

Ambassador Etrebi highlighted that the invitation is the fourth of its kind in the G20 history and the second in a row as Egypt took part in the meetings during India's presidency last year. He also noted that members of the group compose 80 percent of the global GDP, 75 percent of global trade, and 60 percent of the world population.
