2024 Presidential election marathon kicks off in New Zealand

CAIRO – 30 November 2023: The Presidential election marathon kicked off on Thursday [Friday by New Zealand local timing], with Egyptians abroad casting their votes on December 1-3, 2023.

Egyptian embassy in New Zealand was the first to open its doors for expats to cast their ballots in the in 2024 Presidential election.

The elections is held between four contenders, including incumbent President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party Farid Zahran, President of Al Wafd Party Abdel-Sanad Yamama, and President of the Republican People's Party Hazem Omar.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has been following up on preparations for the voting process, which will be taking place at 137 embassies and consulates across 121 countries around the world.

Shourky, meanwhile, urged all Egyptians living abroad to cast their ballots in the upcoming presidential election.

The final result will be announced on December 18 if no run-off is required.

Egypt’s National Elections Authority announced forming central operations room equipped with live television broadcasting technology, to follow up on Egyptian expats casting their ballots inside the headquarters of diplomatic missions around the world.

Egypt’s Embassy in New Zealand is the 1st Egyptian diplomatic mission in the world to begin the voting process due to time difference with Egypt, which is approximately 11 hours.
