CAIRO - 24 November 2023: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed gratitude towards the Egyptian authorities after the humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza came into effect this Friday morning.

The Egyptian authorities intensified their communications with both Israeli and Palestinian sides to establish the humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and prevent violations, especially following the Israeli forces' shooting near the Indonesian hospital.

Sunak wrote on his X page, "This humanitarian truce is crucial to end the terrible plight of the hostages and to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza."

He added, "I would like to thank Qatar, Egypt, and others for their intense diplomacy that has brought us to this point. We will not stop until all hostages are safely returned."

The humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, under the auspices of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, came into effect earlier today, following an Israeli offensive that began on October 7th last year, resulting in over 15,000 citizens killed, including 6150 children, and more than 4,000 women, in addition to over 36,000 injured.
