CAIRO – 22 November 2023: The United States president Joe Biden welcomed on Wednesday the Israel-Hamas deal to reach a truce and release hostages.

In a statement for the white house bidden said: “I welcome the deal to secure the release of hostages taken by the terrorist group Hamas during its brutal assault against Israel on October 7th.”

“Jill and I have been keeping all those held hostage and their loved ones close to our hearts these many weeks, and I am extraordinarily gratified that some of these brave souls, who have endured weeks of captivity and an unspeakable ordeal, will be reunited with their families once this deal is fully implemented.” He added

Biden thanked Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar and President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt for their critical leadership and partnership in reaching the Israel-Hamas deal.

“I look forward to speaking with each of these leaders and staying in close contact as we work to ensure this deal is carried through in its entirety. It is important that all aspects of this deal be fully implemented.” Biden said.

Hamas and Israel made a truce and hostage exchange deal in the early hours of Wednesday as the former will release 50 Israeli women and children aged below 19, while the latter will release 150 Palestinian women and children aged below 19, who were detained in Israeli prisons.

The four-day truce deal provides that both the Israelis and the Palestinians will stop military actions; the Israelis will suspend military operations in entire Gaza; the Israelis will not move any vehicles in Gaza; and aviation will be suspended in Southern Gaza completely and in Northern Gaza from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The deal also includes the entry of hundreds of trucks carrying humanitarian, relief, medical, and fuel aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, without exception, north and south. Further, Israel commits to not harming or arresting anyone in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and guarantees the freedom of movement of people (from north to south) along Salahuddin Street.
