Cairo – 21 November 2023: Sources told Al Qahera News channel on Tuesday that Egypt is continuing Its intensive efforts and communications in coordination with the United States and Qatar reach a truce agreement in Gaza.

It was added that the “truce agreement includes the release of a number of women and children detained in the Gaza Strip in exchange for Israel releasing a number of Palestinian women and children”

“The truce agreement in Gaza is witnessing tangible progress and is in its final stages”, the sources affirmed.

It was further explained that the awaited agreement includes allowing humanitarian aid, fuel and gas to enter all areas of the Strip.

The sources confirmed Egypt’s ‘continued pivotal role’ in Gaza, especially with regard to reaching a ceasefire and facilitating the flow of aid and diesel to Gaza.

Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Political Office of Hamas, stated that reaching a ceasefire agreement with Israel is imminent.

Haniyeh added that Hamas has delivered its response to the mediators, Egypt and Qatar, and is close to finalizing a truce agreement with Israel, the Cairo News Channel reported.

This update indicates a possible de-escalation in the long-standing conflict between Hamas and Israel, with Egypt and Qatar playing key roles in facilitating the negotiations for a ceasefire.

Egypt has been cooperating in the evacuation of foreigners and dual nationals stuck in Gaza, as 6,713 of those transited in the country after they entered through Rafah Border Crossing between November 2 and November 17. Currently, there are 240 others waiting to leave the Strip.

As for the number of injured Palestinians Egypt took in for treatment, they amount to 236, mostly children, joined by 197 companions. The country also received 28 premature children.
