Egypt plays a positive role in the Middle East at the political and security levels, Bošnjak said in statements to MENA Monday.

The diplomat said he is sad about the non-humanitarian conflict going on in the region, hoping that once it is over it would lead to the implementation of the two-state solution. He cited recent remarks by US President Joe Biden in which he pressed for that.

He expected that the government of Israel would, by time, change its views and act to implement the two-state solution, especially in light of the big pressure by super powers to reach comprehensive peace in the region.

Bošnjak also talked about strong relations with Egypt, noting that arrangements are currently being made for both sides to exchange visits at the ministerial level.

He also touched upon promising fields of cooperation between the two countries, especially where new and renewable energy is concerned.

The diplomat underscored the need to enhance efforts to activate tourism. He said that about 10,000 Croatians spend their vacations in Egypt every year. Further action is needed to increase the flow of Croatian tourists to Egypt, Bošnjak said, stressing the need to operate direct flights between Egypt and Croatia.
