CAIRO - 26 October 2023: The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and continuing terrorist crime committed by the Zionist occupation forces against Palestinian journalists.

The sydnicate said that on Wednesday alone, the Israeli attacks have killed three journalists, and three members of the family of Journalist Wael el-Dahdouh, including his wife, daughter and son, as a result of a violent bombing that targeted a house where they were sheltering in Wadi Gaza, which is one of the areas, to which the Israeli occupation requested the transfer of residents.

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate saluted the heroism of colleagues in Palestine who insisted on continuing to work and perform their professional and patriotic duty in conveying the truth under the terror of Zionist missiles, and the extremely harsh conditions, where they, their families and their homes were targeted by a brutal war machine in one of the most heinous war crimes against journalists.

The syndicate said that about 22 journalists were killed and dozens were injuried, in addition to the destruction of more than 50 media institutions, the targeting of the homes of dozens of journalist colleagues, and the arrest of 30 journalists in the West Bank.

The syndicate affirmed that while expressing its sincere solidarity with all Palestinian journalists who face death in order to convey the truth, it announces its deepest condolences to all the martyred colleagues and to the family of the colleague Wael Al-Dahdouh, who set the most wonderful examples of heroism, as he received the news of his family being targeted while he was carrying out his work covering another Zionist massacre against the residents of the Yarmouk neighborhood in Gaza.

The syndicate explained that Wael Al-Dahdouh had previously been arrested and spent 7 years in Israeli occupation prisons. Dahdouh returned to the Gaza Strip just two weeks before the outbreak of war.

“The horrific massacres of the occupation army also resulted in the martyrdom of 3 journalists during the past 24 hours. Today at dawn, journalist Saed Al-Halabi from Al-Aqsa TV channel was martyred after his house in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, was targeted. His colleague, Ahmed Abu Mahadi, was also martyred. Earlier, independent journalist Salma Mukhaimer and her child were martyred in a bombing on the city of Rafah, bringing the number of martyrs of the journalistic body to 22 since October 7th.

The Journalists Syndicate called for the necessity of prosecuting the perpetrators of crimes against journalists and their families, and bringing them to justice as war criminals, stressing that the impunity of the perpetrators of all these crimes, and hundreds of other Israeli crimes and violations against journalists and the media in Palestine, is what encouraged the Israeli occupation to persist and escalate in committing more of them.

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate affirmed that it will not stop exposing the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Zionist occupation forces against the Palestinian people, pointing out that the crime of targeting journalists will not obscure the facts.

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate also confirmed that it continues to coordinate with its Palestinian counterpart and the Egyptian Bar Association to prepare a legal file to prosecute Zionist war criminals.
