CAIRO – 19 October 2023: An emergency session of the Egyptian House of Representatives kicked off on Thursday to discuss the repercussions of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Representative Alaa Essam, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the session convened to give President Abdel Fattah El Sisi the authorization to take what is appropriate regarding protecting Egyptian national security and supporting the Palestinian cause.

President of the Senate Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq affirmed on Wednesday Egypt’s Senate's full support for President Abdel Fattah al Sisi stance and all measures he takes to protect the Egyptian borders and the Palestinian cause.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated on Wednesday that what is happening in Gaza Strip now is not an eagerness to direct military action against Hamas, but rather an attempt to push civilians to seek refuge in Egypt.

President Sisi stressed that Egypt is a sovereign state and it rejects such attempts, adding that “if necessary, I can ask the Egyptians to come out and express their rejection to the refuge idea, and then you will see millions of Egyptians are ready to demonstrate as an expression of their rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.”

President Sisi added during a joint press conference with the German Chancellor Ulf Schulz at the presidential headquarters that “Egypt rejects the military solution to the Palestinian cause or any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinians from their land, or for this to come at the expense of the region,” pointing out that Egypt will remain in its position in support of the legitimate Palestinian right to its land.

Hamas' Qassam Brigades launched on October 7 an offensive on Israeli settlements in the occupied lands by firing 5,000 missiles in 20 minutes, invoking airstrikes on Gaza that incurred scores of casualties and have not ceased until present.

Hamas fighters launched their military operation to end the suffering of the Palestinians under the Israeli siege in the Gaza Strip and stop the intensive provocative actions by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

In the latest death toll announced by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 3,500 people have been killed (the majority are women and children), and other 12,000 were injured as a result of the Israeli aggression on Gaza. Meanwhile, the number of people killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces reached 69 Palestinians and the injured people rose to 1,300.

Israel announced that the number of deaths reached 1,400 Israelis and more than 3,400 others were injured.
