CAIRO – 18 October 2023: Azzam Shaath, a political researcher in the Palestinian affairs based in Gaza, said the Israeli plans in the strip extend beyond internal forced displacement of residents.

In remarks to Egypt Today, Shaath said Israel plans to force Gazans to leave the strip toward Egypt’s Sinai in order to facilitate the destruction of Gaza.

However, he affirmed that this scenario is hard to be achieved thanks to the Egyptian official and public rejection of the step and the Gazans’ refusal to be “uprooted” from their territory.

Meanwhile, Palestinian writer Talal Al-Sharif stressed that attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians in Gaza to Egypt or Jordan constitute a liquidation of the Palestinian cause.

On Wednesday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed Egypt's unwavering support to the Palestinian people and rejection of Israeli plans to displace Gazans to Sinai.

El-Sisi said millions of Egyptian people are ready to protest any plans to displace the Palestinian people from Gaza.

Sisi said in case Israel has the notion to displace the Palestinians in Gaza until the end of military operations against the armed factions, then Israel can host them in Negev Desert.
