CAIRO - 14 October 2023: The National Elections Authority closes the door to receive candidate papers for the 2024 presidential elections at 2 pm Saturday, according to the schedule of the elections. 
 
The committee to receive nomination papers opened its doors on Thursday, October 5, and continued for 10 consecutive days, during which forms for the nomination application are withdrawn for signature, inside a large hall at the Authority’s headquarters, which has been equipped with state-of-the-art devices. 
 
The nomination application are submitted to the Authority through the candidate himself or his legal representative. This is done on the relevant form, and a number of documents must be attached to the application upon submission, which are the forms for the recommendation of members of the House of Representatives or the citizens’ endorsements of the candidate seeking candidacy.
 
The applicant also submits:
 
- The applicant’s birth certificate or an official extract thereof
- An official copy of the qualification he obtained.
-The applicant’s acknowledgment that he is an Egyptian to Egyptian parents and that neither he nor any of his parents or wife hold the nationality of another country.
-The applicant’s criminal status sheet.
- A certificate that he has performed Military service or he was exempted from it in accordance with the law.
- The financial disclosure statement stipulated in Law No. 62 of 1975 regarding illegal gains.
-The medical report issued by one of the specified hospitals, namely the Nasser Institute, Sheikh Zayed, or the New Administrative Capital.
- A declaration that there was no previous ruling in which he is accused of a felony or a crime against honor or trust, even if his reputation has been restored.
 
The candidacy applicant also submits a receipt stating that an amount of L.E. 20,000 has been paid to the treasury of the National Authority as a deposit that will be returned to him after the announcement of the election results, deducted from the expenses of publishing and removing electoral posters, as the case may be, and a statement of the chosen place where the candidacy applicant will be notified of all the committee’s work related to him.
 
The National Elections Authority had set October 16 and 17 to announce and publish the initial list of candidates’ names and the numbers of sponsors or supporters for each of them, in the Official Gazette, and set November 9 to announce the final list of candidates and their electoral symbols and publish them in the Official Gazette, provided that electoral propaganda begins as of November 9.
