CAIRO – 10 October 2023: The National Dialogue's board of trustees condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression on the Palestinian people, asserting support for all Egyptian efforts aimed at putting an immediate end to the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Tuesday, the board expressed deep concern over the dangerous escalation in Gaza, which could have its grave consequences on regional security and stability.

It warned against any attempt that might jeopardize Egypt's national security, full sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Reiterating Egypt's position in support of the Palestinian cause, whether at the official or grassroots levels, the board urged all Egyptian people to support their Palestinian brethren through all legal means, topped by a recent initiative by the Decent Life Foundation to collect donations to support the Palestinian people, through Egyptian bank accounts dedicated for that purpose.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in its latest update that the death toll since Saturday’s Israeli occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip and soldiers shooting Palestinians in the West Bank has risen to 922 dead and about 4,650 wounded.

It said 900 people were killed in the all-out aggression on the Gaza Strip and more than 4,500 were wounded, including 260 children and 230 women, while the number is expected to rise with the ongoing intense bombardment throughout the besieged sea-side enclave.

In the West Bank, 22 people were killed by Israeli army gunfire, while about 150 others were injured.

As the fourth day of the Palestinian-Israeli confrontations continue; sources within the Gaza Strip have told Youm7 newspaper that Israel used prohibited white phosphorus against Palestinians in Al Karama area, north of Gaza.

This usage of prohibited weapons comes in conjunction with intensified and violent raids against the strip as a response for Hamas operation ‘Toofan Al-Aqsa’ carried out since Saturday against Israel.

The Israeli warplanes have intensified their violent raids on Tuesday, demolishing entire neighborhoods inside the Strip, along with targeting the Palestinian civilians’ houses.

Israeli and Palestinian government officials have confirmed that they up to 15 massacres have been committed by the Israeli forces so far. They also explained that the health sector in Gaza suffers from a lack of electricity supplies that do not exceed 4 hours maximum.

Early on Saturday, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli cities, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Israelis and the capture of dozens of hostages.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by declaring a "state of war," and Israeli jets continued to carry out relentless airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Since then, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received phone calls from world leaders, who have expressed concerns over the ongoing escalation.

Egypt has called for tackling the root cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by backing the path of calm and advancing efforts of settling the Palestinian cause.
