CAIRO - 5 October 2023: The National Elections Authority (NEA) began receiving the papers of potential candidates for the 2024 presidential elections, for a period of 10 days ending on October 14,
 
The authority will receive the papers every day, even on weekends and official holidays, and it will close at 5 p.m.
 
The security services in Cairo intensified their presence around the headquarters of the National Elections Authority on Kasr Al-Aini Street, coinciding with the opening of the door to receive applications for candidates, as the security services deployed their forces at the entrances and exits of the authority.
 
The conditions for nomination for the Presidency of the Republic included that the candidate must collect at least 25,000 powers of attorney from citizens who have the right to vote, from at least 15 different governorates, with a minimum of 1,000 powers from each of them.
 
 
The National Authority has unified 13 conditions and documents that must be attached to the candidacy application, which are:
 
- The forms for the recommendation of members of the House of Representatives or citizens’ endorsements of the candidate for candidacy. 
 
- The applicant’s birth certificate or an official extract from it.
 
- An official copy of the qualifications he obtained.
 
- The applicant’s declaration that he is Egyptian to Egyptian parents and that he does not have or any of his parents or his wife has the nationality of another country.
 
- A criminal record of the applicant for candidacy.
 
- A certificate that he performed military service or was exempted from it in accordance with the law.
 
- A financial disclosure statement stipulated in Law No. 62 of 1975 regarding illicit gain.
 
- A medical report issued by those who One of the specified hospitals, which is the Nasser Institute, Sheikh Zayed, or the New Administrative Capital.
 
- A declaration that he has not previously been convicted of a felony or a crime against honor or trust, even if he has been rehabilitated.
 
- The applicant for candidacy also submits a receipt stating that an amount of twenty thousand pounds has been paid to the treasury of the National Authority as a deposit that will be returned to him after the announcement of the election results, deducted from the expenses of publishing and removing electoral posters.
 
In conjunction with the opening of nominations, real estate registration offices will continue to receive citizens wishing to document endorsements of candidates.
 
The applicant for candidacy chooses one of the electoral symbols determined by the National Elections Authority, from among 15 electoral symbols: “star, sun, lion, horse, eagle, rooster, scale, plane, wristwatch, palm tree, boat, umbrella, telephone, glasses, ladder.”
 
The controls for selecting the symbol for the applicant for candidacy are based on the priority of submitting the candidacy application to the Authority’s headquarters.
 
After the end of the period for submitting nomination papers and its procedures, the authority will prepare a final list of candidates’ names according to the priority of submitting nomination applications, and announce this list by publication in the Official Gazette on November 9.
